The second thing the search engines look at is how popular your site is on the internet. Are there thousands of other web sites, blogs and links all pointing back to you? Are your links coming from key sites with high page ranks? What is the wording of the back link? These are external settings that have a big effect on search results. They are not discussed here.
Off-page factors are more important than the on-page factors in determining your position in the search results, but on-page factors are still important and both have to work together to get the best results from Google or any of the search engines.
